January temperatures may hit -25 degrees Fahrenheit (F) (-31 degrees Celcius (C) ) – or even lower. Average temperatures hover between -4 and 34 F (-20 to 1.1 C).
January is also the time of year that you can expect the most snow in New Hampshire. Snowfall averages 20 to 22 inches statewide, while Mount Washington can expect 44 inches of snow!
Snow conditions are ideal for this peak skiing season, powdery “when the humidity and moisture content is low.”
If you will be visiting New Hampshire to enjoy winter sports, be sure to pack adequate clothing to deal with chilling temperatures. Exercise caution when traversing mountain passes and trails, since these can become dangerous due to large amounts of snow.
